When will STP applications open in 2027?
The NSHCS says applications for the next England STP round are likely to open in January 2027. Confirmed dates have not yet been published. The NSHCS applicants hub and Oriel will carry the announcement. In the meantime, you can check your likely eligibility, compare specialties and organise examples from your own experience.
What is confirmed about the 2027 round?
So far, only the likely January opening has been announced. The application close, longlisting, shortlisting, interview and offer dates are still to come. The 2026 dates below are useful for understanding the sequence; use the confirmed 2027 timetable for your actual plans once it is published.

What happened in the 2026 round?
Applications and interviews have finished and recruitment is now closed. Most interviews were scheduled for 5 May to 5 June, offers began from 15 June and the upgrade deadline was 30 June. These dates show the previous sequence, not the 2027 timetable.
Should you draft supporting information now?
You can collect examples and reflect on what each one shows about your scientific work, communication, teamwork and judgement. That preparation will still be useful when the application opens. Write the final response only after you can see the live 2027 questions, limits and integrity guidance.

Organise examples around skills, actions and learning, then respond to the official 2027 instructions when published.
