When do STP applications open in 2027?
Applications for England’s next Scientist Training Programme round are expected to open in January 2027. As of 6 September 2026, the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS) has not published confirmed dates.
Where to find the dates
The NSHCS applicants page and Oriel will publish the timetable. Look for the application deadline, the separate situational judgement test dates, and any later deadlines for choosing locations or accepting an offer.
What you can do now
- Compare your qualifications with the entry requirements.
- Explore the medical physics specialisms and the work each involves.
- Read the person specification and note examples from your experience.
- Check the NSHCS applicants page again in late 2026 and at the start of January 2027.
Writing your application
You can collect examples now. Write your final answers when you can see the questions, word limits and instructions for the 2027 application.
The previous application round
Recruitment for 2026 has finished. Its timetable can show the order of the stages, but the dates for 2027 may differ. Use the new timetable once it is published.
